Curriculum

In Early Years Foundation Stage, learning is underpinned by the 4 themes of the EYFS Framework:

  • Every child is a unique child
  • Children learn through positive relationships
  • Children learn and develop well in enabling environments
  • Children learn and develop in different ways.

There is a balance between adult-led, and child-initiated learning. We introduce the 'Letters and Sounds' phonics scheme. Children use the outdoor learning environment throughout the year.

In Key Stages 1 and 2, children experience a broad, balanced and exciting curriculum covering the core subjects (literacy and mathematics) as well as foundation subjects (Science, ICT, RE, History, Geography, Art, DT, Music, PSHCE, MFL ( in KS2).

Children receive daily lessons in literacy and mathematics. In Key Stage 1 we continue with the 'Letters and Sounds' phonics scheme and use a variety of reading schemes. Some subjects are taught through interesting topics, which cover more than one subject area. Children’s learning experiences include visitors, and educational visits.

The school provides a range of extra-curricular clubs and activities, including: football, netball, choir and lessons in the guitar and ukulele.

Homework is set regularly throughout the school.
