Our Curriculum

In Early Years Foundation Stage, learning is underpinned by the 4 themes of the EYFS Framework:

  • Every child is a unique child.

  • Children learn to be strong through positive relationships.

  • Children learn and develop well in enabling environments with teaching and support from adults.

  • Children learn and develop at different rates.

There is a balance between adult-led, and child-initiated learning. We introduce the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised  phonics scheme. Children use the outdoor learning environment throughout the year.

In Key Stages 1 and 2, children experience a broad, balanced and exciting curriculum covering the National Curriculum requirements in English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, RE, History, Geography, Art, DT, Music, PSHCE, and MFL (in KS2).

Children receive daily lessons in English and Mathematics. In Key Stage 1 we continue with the Little Wandle phonics scheme and use a variety of reading schemes. Many subjects are taught through engaging topics, which cover more than one subject area. Children’s learning experiences include a range of visitors, and educational visits.

The school provides  extra-curricular clubs and activities, including choir and lessons in the guitar and ukulele.

Homework is set regularly throughout the school.
